WoW holiday getaways
Wowgold NewsWoW holiday getaways One of ways that Blizzard keeps World of Warcraft fresh -- outside of regular patch updates and expansions that bring new quests, character and profession tweaks, lands and instances -- is a regular spate of holiday events. They allow players to break away from the daily grind of questing, leveling, running instances and farming. Right now, those playing the World of Warcraft can participate in Brewfest -- a festival dedicated to brew and ale, much like Oktoberfest -- which is set up at the bottom of the mountain where Ironforge is located. There are several repeatable quests from which players can earn prize tickets to be redeemed for Brewfest clothing, a special mount, and other goodies. Players also can purchase a variety of alcohol drinks (when drunk the game interface changes to make it seem as if you're drunk, from making the environment kind of spinny to slurring speech) as well as foods such as sausage, cheese and other holiday fare. Later this month, Hallow's End will feature more of the same. It's a take on Halloween, with carved jack o' lanterns festooning towns, innkeepers giving tricks (transforming you into a creature) or treats (polymorphing wands and ugly masks). Some of the holidays offer your character a chance to get a cool pet. From the children's festival, my warrior, Butchie, got Sleepy Willy -- a large floating eyeball with stubby tentacles that dozes off frequently. Others chose a miniature elephant and there also was a crazy bird only half-hatched from its shell. From Beerfest, my druid, Treebrother, got a Wolpertinger, which is basically a winged jackalope -- a fuzzy bunny with antlers, long fangs and wings. December is the big holiday, with the Feast of Winter Veil, featuring Father Winter -- a dwarf in red with white hair and a long, flowing, white beard. There are fun quests, holiday food and presents for all levels, not too mention snowballs galore. You can get a little elf helper or items that allow you to turn yourself into a big snowman, or your mount into a red-nosed reindeer.News for mercoledì 17 ottobre, 2007 View all news for mercoledì 17 ottobre, 2007 on one page Recent News |
